VARUN BAHL

Dubbed as the couturier of flowers, a Varun Bahl creation is now treated as precious jewellery. With heirloom-like qualities of fine craftsmanship, timeless wearability and classic silhouettes, his eponymous label is a household name when it comes to superlative indian couture.

His journey in the world of Indian fashion began in 2001, when the country itself was finding its fashion footing. Varun Bahl on the other hand had already claimed critical acclaim internationally by 2004. What sets the designer apart is his seamless blend of age-old Indian crafts in finely cut silhouettes with contemporary colour palettes. Not once when you don his garment will you feel that it’s too bulky, they are always light on the wearer and heavy on the impression. Each piece dazzles, always.

His clothes range from traditional saris and lehenga ensembles to contemporary separates like trousers, tunics, jackets, and dresses. And his floral element makes its way into each of these through various forms like prints, embroidery, weaves, applique and more.

Both his mens and women’s line is not only a commercial success but is also seen on numerous celebrities like Deepika Padukone, Kangana Ranaut, Parineeti Chopra, Bipasha Basu, Huma Qureshi, Kajol, Madhuri Dixit, Amitabh Bachchan, Arjun Rampal, and Ranbir Kapoor, among others.

WHAT’S ON SHOWCASE?

His latest couture line aptly titled ‘Bloom’ finds its way into the new normal with a variety of apes, waistcoats, tulip pants, and flared trousers in pure silk organza and satin. His signature florals are emblazoned across each of these creations in the form of 3D floral embroidery, sequin detailing, bugle beads, ruffles and pleats.

“I am thrilled to showcase my Demi Couture, 2020 collection- Bloom. We’ve created something really special with this line and I’m excited to reveal it to the world. I’m also curious about the reception and response to a new collection being showcased on a digital media. It’s a first for us, but it’s the need of the hour. I’m also proud that we have managed to create something so magnificent and special during this difficult time. For me, it’s really the silver lining.”

WHAT WE LOVE?

Nobody does florals quite like him, nobody does celebration couture quite like him. Varun Bahl’s grip over the Indian couture market is unparalleled because of his charming style, it appeals to everyone.
